Coming Up Short #58 – Brett Engle, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

We should call episode #58 of the Coming Up Short podcast our ‘Kickstarter’ edition as that’s really the main focus of our show. Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome into the studio Brett Engle who’s in the process of launching a brand-new Kickstarter campaign to re-cut and re-release a very old movie.

Brett tells the Coming Up Short crew about a film that his Grandfather and Great Uncle shot back in the 70’s that’s full of cowboys, wilderness, animal stunts, and a whole lot more. This film, that lay dormant for years, ended up being the focus of a cult music video and several national appearances, all unbeknownst to Brett! It’s a fascinating story of how this film was uncovered and the plans that Brett has for it in the future.

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

This week, Coming Up Short is coming up tall. Real tall! Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome the tallest comedian in the local scene, Brandon Bennington. After some initial awkwardness as Jon vents his short anger on Brandon for not having to deal with the heightists on online dating sites, the three get down to business.

Brandon’s comedic journey is an interesting one that wound through such diverse areas as playing college football, to being in the Navy. Brandon’s definitely not stopping here as he talks about his desire to move to Los Angeles and three discuss the merits of moving to a bigger market.

Coming Up Short – Tim Kirby, Eric Rosenblum, and Jon Levine

Coming Up Short with Jon Levine and Eric Rosenblum

It’s the 1 year anniversary edition of the Coming Up Short podcast! February 13th of 2015 is when Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine first got together and created Coming Up Short and here they are a year later still going strong! That first episode was much different than what it is today. No theme music, no guest, just two short Jews talking about comedy and dating.

A year later, the show has matured. It’s still two short Jews, but it has it’s own theme song and each week a new guest drops by the Chula Vista Studios to talk about their comedic journey. This week, Jon and Eric welcome into the studio Tim Kirby!

Tim talks to the duo about his start in front of audiences as a corporate trainer who would inject a bit of humor into what he was saying to what he’s become today. The three discuss the rooms that Tim runs, including a new one at Bottega Wine Bar in Coconut Creek, as well as the people that really helped him out at the beginning.
