Episode #65 of the Coming Up Short podcast is a fun one. We’ve imported our guest from way down south who traveled quite a ways just to be on the show. We’re very happy to welcome Isabella Patty to Coming Up Short! Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine spend the better part of the show getting to know Isabella and the twists and turns of her comedy career.
Something else that comes out during the show is an interesting perspective of the comedy scene in South Florida and how rough it can be from a woman’s perspective. Isabella recently witnessed first-hand how hard guys can be on women, both ones they perform with and audience members. It’s quite eye-opening.

“I want this to be the least listened to episode ever!” That was the first thing to come out of this week’s guest on the Coming Up Short podcast, which is something that Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine were definitely not expecting. Chris Flanagan’s desire was not for a bad show, but to actually shower Eric and Jon with compliments. Chris was definitely gunning for the best-guest-ever award.
He was also one of the most interesting guests, with a discussion that ranged from what it’s like to start comedy in urban rooms, to taking other people’s advice when you’re on stage, and so much more. Chris and Jon also discuss their participation in the World Series of Comedy event in Chattanooga and what the takeaways from their performances were.

It’s a banner episode for the Coming Up Short podcast as Eric Rosenblum and Jon Levine welcome the patriarch of South Florida comedy into the Chula Vista Studios, Mr. Leon Arp! Eric and Jon have been trying to get Leon on for a long time and the three were finally able to pull it together.
This is a fascinating interview that starts with Leon’s storied history as a musical entertainer which began when he was just 13 years old. We learn about his journey from the Great White North down to sunny South Florida with just a few stops in between. The three also discuss how Leon made the jump from music to comedy and why it’s so important for him to keep going out, night after night.
The three also talk about the recent Kevin Hart appearance and Speak Friday and celebrate the four South Florida comedians chosen to represent our scene and what a great job they did.
